smarter snacking

This is pretty awesome, actually:

asically, some researchers found that if you inserted visual cues (like making every seventh Pringles chip red) people were more aware of how much they ate while snacking. And they on average ate less - a lot less. 

All of which makes a lot of sense, now that they've figured it out...

I love the idea, unfortunately I don't see the chip manufacturers going for this since people eat less when the color marker is in the stack. Food manufacturers want people to eat as much as possible but that won't happen with the color marker. So cute though.

I don't know - the snack manufacturers seem so gimmicky these days, it just might take off if they billed it as something new and health-conscious. But you're probably right; I know I'd be willing to pay a premium but twice the normal cost might be pushing it.
