Right, so I'm supposed to be being a little less intendsely fannish. Or trying to be lately. But someone came up with a meme that is entirely too perfect. There's a tag somewhere (twitter? tumblr? somewhere) of girls doing things that every girl secretly likes doing, like having that one outfit that makes you feel good about yourself. Then, some genius (and I mean that in a good way!)paired these with a picture from the Sherlock fandom.

Because, you know, we like to make everything about us. And also are everywhere, lurking and ready to make everything about Sherlock.

I've pinned the few I've found to my Sherlock board over at Pinterest. Right now they're at the top of the page right after the notice that that page will contain spoilers for series three come January 01. I do wish I could find a collection someone has put together of the best Sherlock/justgirlythings crossovers. But in the meantime, if you're at all drawn to Shderlock and/or subverting gender expectations, do check it out.

OMFGWTF WHY? It gives you pleasure, it's not expensive or ruinous to your health, it provides opportunities to interact with people all over the world, and did I mention, IT GIVES YOU PLEASURE?

*stomps off muttering and shaking head*

*and feeling the need for one big userpic that just says, WHUT?*

Because my headspace is a messed-up place these days. Because I am de facto unemployed and have all that "the goals that used to prove I actually could do worthwhile work aren't part of what I'm supposed to be doing anymore." Because I've been told entirely too many times that I am now going on the Job Market (TM) so must prove that I am a Serious Person (also TM) and, above all else, not have the fact that I am odd be the first thing I throw in a non-fannish person's face. Since, as I've also been told entirely too many times by the people I really shouldn't be listening to any more but still seem stuck on taking seriously when I hear from them, since I'm somewhat sweet and charming when you get to know me but on first impressions I just come off as intimidatingly odd.

In other words: not a damned (good) reason in the world. But entirely too many not so good reasons that seem good.

So... yeah.

All those are reasons to hold on to your fannishness, hold it to your heart as the Thing That Upholds You Through All Those Other Things.

(I wonder if Tor.com, to which I seem to link you on a regular basis, might have use for your skills and insights? They seem to have a load of bloggers there, who have all kinds of interesting takes on things.)
