I know I've been talking about Sherlock quite a bit lately, but I've been wanting to spend a little bit of time with Sherlock fans who are... well, less crazy. This fandom has a reputation for being zany, funny, high speed. And it is, and I like that. But I've also been feeling a bit like I've come off a sugar high. I'd love to do something a little more substantive, have serious conversations with people who like the show and want to talk about it. Not that you guys haven't been great; I just feel like I'm imposing a bit. Maybe even a fic-writing challenge. There's a part of me that wants to create something Sherlockish but doesn't know where to start.

I know some of you guys are into Sherlock. Does anyone know of any groups or anything that's a little less... monolothic, I guess, than Tumblr and AO3?

holmesian_news is a daily newsletter (all Sherlock Holmes 'verses, not just the BBC show - but that's the most popular one).

sherlockbbc has fic, meta, recs posts, and discussion posts.

Contrary to current appearances, my interest in Sherlock Holmes does not begin and end with Benedict Cumberbatch's cheekbones. I went through a period my junior year of high school where I read pretty much everything by Doyle I could lay my hands on, and I still have a soft spot for him, though I've never got into other film/TV portrayals. So while I'm currently being fannish over the BBC version, I'm not averse to thinking and talking about the books, or for that matter other adaptations.

Shall check both of these out. Thanks in particular for the sherlockbbc community, as what I'm really looking for is a space to discuss the show with others who are as passionate about it as I am. So meta and discussion posts sounds like a good thing. Recs, too - I've been working my way through some of the fic on the 221b_recs list in lieu of my normal subway reading, and it's quite nice.

I'd be interested to read some of your own recs! Do you bookmark on A03 at all?

I don't, but there's absolutely no reason I couldn't. I think I'll start doing that - good idea.

I was just looking at mine, to see if there's anything that might interest you. Don't think there is, lots of crossovers with 00Q (Skyfall), but there is that Swordspoint crossover that I loved so much, that you read before you were into Sherlock - might be worth another look!
