bad news of the four-legged variety

We had to put the family dog to sleep last night weekend. Or rather, my parents did; I'm of course in a different state. She'd been in an accident a while ago, and while she recovered quite well for a while, there were some secondary health problems that made my parents feel like there really wasn't much quality of life for her.

I'm feeling a bit lost within myself these days. Wandering around the apartment, not getting much work done, definitely not sleeping well at night. I was really close to her once upon a time. Mostly I've just been reading Hunger Games and getting irritated at people on FB over political things I don't really care about that much.

I'm okay, I think, all things considered. I'm just not very happy with the kind of peron I am these days.

(NB: I originally typed last night but it was Sunday afternoon. I really haven't been thinking all that clearly.)

I'm so sorry!
Don't be too hard on yourself. You're probably missing the old framework of working in your office. That can be a difficult change to make and personal stuff makes it worse.

Loving hugs to you, my friend. I have been there twice this summer, and I feel your pain. I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish I could give you hugs in person! If you need to flee the city for Labor Day weekend, let me know. There's a bed ready for you any time you say the word.

It is amazing how difficult it is to mourn a pet. And death is the sort of change that makes all other recent life changes seems so much more pronounced and difficult. Take time for yourself. It is allowed to do that when someone you love has been lost. Hugs to you!

Sometimes one just has to turtle in order to stay sane and recover happiness. You're doing what you have to do.

So sorry to hear about your dog. They are such loving companions who ask so little and give so much. I'm sure you will miss her for a long time. *hugs*

So sorry to hear about the dog. Don't beat yourself up too much about not getting things done; sometimes that down time is what we need. (And it's perfectly OK to steer clear of people you know will irritate you on FB too!) Keep Buggering On, as Churchill allegedly used to say, and things will get better, gradually, I hope.
